Mrs. Wright's Class

Happy 100th Day of School! It seems hard to believe that we have been in school for 100 days. Time sure flies. Your kids are 100 days smarter that is for sure. Today we will be doing fun learning activities all relating to the number 100. Ask your child about some of the things we did today.

For the rest of the week we will continue on with Chapter 6, measurement, in math. We are learning to measure classroom items with many creative things. We are also spending some time reviewing numbers 0-30 since some of us still struggle with this skill. Please continue to practice writing and recognizing these numbers.

Everyone is doing such a wonderful job with their reading and we are adding new sight words to our word wall each week. We are also becoming very good at writing sentences and sounding out words. These skills will take practice and you will notice that some of the homework requires writing. Please practice this at home. It will be a skill necessary for your children to succeed in first grade.

I sent a book order home last week. If you are interested in ordering, please do so before Friday, January 22nd. Building your child's home library is a wonderful way to encourage reading and supports their success in reading.

Well, I hope you all enjoyed the extra day off to relax yesterday. We have a busy and fun filled week ahead.
